I got this lamp after searching a long time. I needed a lamp to help illuminate my keyboard, which was always in a shadow from the desktop. Because this lamp can protrude over the edge of the desk, it fits the bill. I also wanted a non-glaring light to use during late night Skype video chats with family in England. An overhead ceiling light just wasn't cutting it, so this lamp works for that purpose as well. The only downside I found was that the clamp-on lampshade is always a little cock-eyed...I can't make it sit straight on the small candleflame shaped lightbub that it requires.
